Made to Last
Some things are built to last, others are built for ease of profits. Relationships are the same way. A good relationship still eludes me. I am happy to be on my own, and I am very independent.
A friend I went to school with recently just passed away. There has been too many in my age group passing away too young. This will always be a reminder that NOW is the time to live.
I finished my cheap and easy window covering for my big picture window. I did not view it from outside yet. I hope it does not look too shabby. I plan on covering it with a fabric to make it fit perfectly. I also plan on putting on some more velcro, right now it has one strip per section. I had to get it up in a hurry. People have been hanging out in front of my small deck and leaving their cigarette butts behind. I smell cigarette smoke from time to time around my house when no one else is home. I have looked outside and have never caught anyone lurking about. I might be paranoid, but I won’t be stupid paranoid. I have plans on setting up motion sensing lights and booby traps once the snow melts.
Less Landlines, More Wires
Took this pic in Holland Patent, NY.
I drove up North while my son had his group meeting today. It mentally tired my dog out, she has been sleeping ever since. I saw some awesome scenes of seeing for miles and miles. I tried to take a couple more pics, but with all the snow there were limited places to pull over.
I waved to an Amish dude walking along the road. I drove over two one lane bridges. I stayed in the same county I live in. The landscape is much more diverse than the flat swampland I live on. I hope to see some windmills or go to the zoo if I decided to escape my home tomorrow.
Uptown Funk gets me out of my Funk
I took this pic to remember the restaurant we ate at the first night I was in New Orleans. It had really good chicken, and tasty collard greens. It was my first taste of collard greens.
It is Saint Patrick’s Day. Most of the parades were last weekend around here. It was too cold for me to navigate the dirty, slushy streets by foot to watch. I have been in a funk since I did the 3 mile walk. Music helps me get out of it. Long drives help too. I did errands with Ashley yesterday. It was grey skies but I wore my sunglasses anyway. I have light sensitive eyes.
The snow in my yard is compacting and melting more. It has been raining a little. I love the snow disappearing, it does not happen fast enough. I still have about a foot left to melt in my yard.
I have to take my son to his group meeting today. I will use the time I have to wait for him to drive to somewhere new with my camera. I have not did a drive-by shooting in a long time. I hope to get out of the car and let Ashley run free for a bit too. She does not like to get her feet wet, so she might not want to get out of the car. She will enjoy smelling out the window though.
I Am Feeling Blah Today
I saw my first real flamingo’s in Mexico while on my cruise. Everything outside my house is frozen white or the brown of dirty road sand or dog poop.
I hope to get out today and at least take my car threw the carwash. I will take Ashley with me, since she does not like to be left behind. I also hope to have enough energy to make it to Trader Joe’s.
4 Years and Still Kicking
Ha, I was not sure I would make it to one year. The last four years have flown by. I am waiting for the snow to melt enough to get to my shed. I want to try to ride my son’s bike before I get my own.
I am going to make a real effort to reduce my clutter today. It is more than spring cleaning. I am preparing for when I will live in a van down by the river.
If Mister Peanut and a Penguin Had a Baby?
I know I am nuts, but that is what I think of when I look at this.
My legs feel better today, still fatigued but I did laundry last night and shoveled a bit today. I need to shovel some more while the snow is in melt mode. I want my sidewalk/walkway to my car on the high side. The high side still gets standing water in flood situations, but where my walkway was snowblowed now I will sink in and the water will be at least 4″ deep. Worse yet it could be super thick ice when it dips below freezing again. I seriously need to place my driveway/parking spot much closer to my door. It will require less shoveling and less fall danger.
I only need to survive three more winters here. My son will be graduated. My house and car will be paid off, hopefully. I will be in warmer climate about 6 months per year. I am not sure if I will be in an apartment or couch surfing from family member to family member when not traveling the remaining 6 months. I am guessing it will be couch surfing to save $$$ for my travels. I won’t literally be on their couch the whole time. I will still stay in my converted camper van, but it will be parked in their driveway. I have been daydreaming, planning and debating my choice of camping/traveling vehicle. I narrowed it down between a minivan or regular size van, converted and customized of course by my design to fit my needs.
My goal as soon as we have clear dry roads is to try to ride my son’s small bike. I need to see if I can ride a bike post stroke. The next step will be to see what type of bike would be best for me to take on the road. It will be day or weekend trips at first with the bike. I will need an easy for me carrier, a lite enough for me to lift bike, and maps of bike trails in driving distance from my house. I also need to find the perfect basket or pack to put on a bike to carry my camera, spare clothes and water.
A Quote for a Quiet Sunday
I completed the heart walk!
That is me trying to kiss snoopy. Here is a link of the group I walked with https://www.facebook.com/groups/624206857626781/
it is just a facebook group, not a not for profit. It is for helping dogs, sometimes cats, horses, or birds, that don’t have a voice against inhumane treatment or cruelty, or those just lost or sick. Our group raised over $500 for the American Heart Association, and we were on local TV (I have not seen it). We just wanted to get our name out there, so mission accomplished.
I am sore now, and fatigued, but I hope I spring back to normal tomorrow. Normal is fatigued but not sore…lol.
Replica
I think this was made out of cement, to look like carved stone from the mayan ruins. It was a repeating theme in the Xcarat Eco Park. I still think it makes a cool photo.
Shoveling has become a repetitive pain in my good hand. I am so tired, it did not help I stayed up past 2 AM watching youtube videos. I think I have had my fill of those for awhile. I did take notes though, so I have some good tips for converting a mini-van into an RV for my future road trip across the US.
